Big relief for common people who are facing many difficulties on aadhaar linking with bank accounts and mobile number. The Supreme Court on Wednesday extended the deadline for linking of various services with Aadhaar till it delivers its judgment on its constitutional validity of the biometrical identification scheme.

The Supreme Court said that the deadline for linking the mandatory basis of bank account, mobile phone and passport is being extended till the decision is taken in this matter. A Constitutional Bench headed by Chief Justice Deepak Mishra also said that the government can not insist on compulsory grounds.

It is worth noting that the deadline March 31 was fixed for linking the aadhaar with bank account and mobile number. The government has tied up almost all the public welfare schemes with the aadhaar number.

Earlier, the validity of the Aadhaar Act has also been challenged in the Supreme Court. The petitioners argue that the use of Unique Identity Numbers will end civil liberties and citizenship will be reduced to enslavement.

Many social workers and former judge of the High Court have challenged the Aadhar scheme to the Supreme Court. A bench of Chief Justice Deepak Mishra, Justice AK Sikri, Justice AM Khanvilkar, Justice DV Chandrachud and Justice Ashok Bhushan is hearing the case.
